Chris’s Graduation

We took a quick trip to OKC for Chris’s graduation from law school. We celebrated and enjoyed being together. We also had some fun in the hotel.

I love this picture! I love these three people!!!

Great Grandma Polly with Claire and Dayton

Some sharp-looking kids!

 And a funny face picture!

The processional at this graduation was -- by far -- THE coolest one I’ve ever seen! Bagpipes! There were bagpipes! I loved it! I wasn’t so happy that Dayton woke up because they were playing, but I still loved it!

I don’t have very many pictures of Chris (or anything after the processional) because Dayton and I spent a lot of time making friends in the foyer instead of in the ceremony, but here are a few. (I did get to see him walk across the stage, but I was holding Dayton, not my camera).

I like this one because you can see some very proud family members in the foreground and Chris in the background.

Congratulations, Chris! We’re proud of you!

Mother’s Day

I am so blessed to have two sweet kiddos! I’m so thankful I’m their mom. Jordan made beignets and sausage on Sunday morning. I enjoyed that delicious breakfast, and then I opened some presents. Jordan and Claire made some cards for me one day, and Claire made a card and a present for me at school, too.

The cards were so sweet they brought me to tears

I got some lovely wrist accessories! My watch broke a while back, so I wanted another one. And Jordan found a beautiful bracelet for me, too. I love it!

I love these guys!

Ready for church. Claire sang with the primary kids during sacrament meeting for the first time that day. She did a great job!

After church we went to Stephen and Mel’s house to celebrate with more family, since they’re close by.

It was nice to see so many great mothers!

Grandma Polly and Dayton got acquainted.

I’m so thankful for my mom and all she does for me and for my family.

Dayton - 6 Months

Dayton is 6 months old!

Here are some milestones for this month:

  • He rolls from his back to his tummy (first time April 29). He will roll and roll and roll all around the room.
  • He started eating solid food - so far rice cereal, carrots, and whole wheat cereal.
  • He started taking naps in his crib instead of the swing. He didn’t like it at first, (and he still cries for at least 5-10 minutes when I put him down for a nap now), but he sleeps in his crib for his naps.
  • His sleeping at night had gotten worse instead of better, so I cut the cord! The first night was rough. He woke up a lot, and I just rubbed his back and sang him a song after 5 minutes of crying, then 10, then 15. He and I were up a lot of that night. The next night was better; he just woke up once around 12 or 1 am. And the third night he slept through the night, and I didn’t hear from him until 6:45am! Hooray!
  • He also had his first ear infection this past month. He didn’t like taking his medicine, but we got most of it in him!

I take him to the doctor next week, so I’ll post his stats then.

He loves to see what we’re doing. I love it that Claire likes to entertain him. She loves to talk to him, sing to him, touch his fingers, do anything to make him laugh, give him toys, and help him if she can. She’s a good big sister. And Dayton’s a sweet little boy. He loves taking baths. He gets very, very excited when he’s lying on the floor in a diaper while I start the bath water.

We love this little guy!

First Bites!

Jordan has been saying that Dayton was ready to eat for a while. I agreed with him, but I just hadn’t fed him food from a spoon yet. Well, back on May 10th I did, and boy, was he ready! He ate that first time like a champ! And since then, there’s been no turning back!

He leaned forward and opened his mouth for the spoon.

He liked that rice cereal!

Dallas

When we were in Dallas a few weeks ago, we got to see lots of our family.

Boo!

It’s always fun to play with (or next to) cousins!

Claire helped Granddad make breakfast.

And Dayton found a friend in the mirror.

Escape Artist

I found Dayton like this the other morning. The pajamas are a little big, and he took advantage of that!

Claire’s Name

Fair warning - this is a proud mommy moment.

I have not worked with Claire on writing her name. And she has not worked on writing her name - or writing any letters - at pre-school, either.

When we were in Dallas recently, Claire had some paper and colored pencils during her quiet time. Later on, I thought to look at what she drew. This is what I found! She wrote her name! It’s not perfect, of course. But since no one has helped her write her name or work on letters, I am truly impressed!

Zoo

Claire has asked and asked to go to the zoo. We finally made a plan to go, and we had a great time there! We got there around 1:00, and we saw lines and lines of school buses. There were lots of school kids there, but they weren’t there for long because it was time for them to go back to their schools. That was good timing!

Claire enjoyed climbing on anything like this that she saw.

Turtle

Dayton did very well. He was happy and played some, and then he took a nap.

Claire and Jordan watched a little sea lion show.

Claire roared and roared at these lions. It was hilarious!

Look at those horns!

Just playing the drums!

Honestly, Claire was more enthralled by the poop with flies on it (in the right of this picture) than she was by the animals on display.

We took a break - to get a snack and enjoy the A/C - and we got to see the giraffes out the window!

Claire LOVED riding the carousel. I just LOVE these pictures!

Another place to pose

While we were there, Claire kept asking to see the monkeys. We found lots of them for her to see!

I love how colorful this bird is.

This was just before Jordan went to get the car for us. We had a fun-filled day at the Houston Zoo!

And there was still time for Claire to climb on one more animal before we left. :-)
