Valentine’s Day

We did a few fun things for valentine’s day.

Claire made valentine’s for the kids in her class at school. (She looks so grown up in this picture. To me, it’s a glimpse of what she’ll look like when she’s 10. Yikes!)

Claire and I made cupcakes for Jordan. Claire thoroughly enjoyed herself!!!

Claire frequently licks all the icing off a cupcake first, and then she may or may not eat the actual cake part. After she ate one of these cupcakes that way, she told me she liked the icing but not the cake part. And then she said, “But maybe if I ate it all together it would taste good.” Silly girl!

Chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter icing! Yum! Jordan enjoyed (and laughed at) his valentine from me.

And little Dayton got in on the V-day fun, too!

Jordan and I were able to get pedicures in the afternoon and then enjoy Pei Wei for dinner after Claire was in bed. Nice!

Super Bowl

So Dayton was blessed on Super Bowl Sunday. We didn’t realize that it was Super Bowl Sunday when we first scheduled the blessing, but when we did, we ended up deciding to have a Super Bowl party, too. That’s two gatherings in one day. One for brunch, and one for a Super Bowl party. That’s a lot of work! But we were happy to do it! (I should say Jordan was happy to do it because he made the majority of the food!)

Some family members came in town on Saturday, so they joined in the food prep. Thanks, Chris! Jordan worked all day Saturday getting food ready so he could just put the finishing touches on the food on Sunday.

I stayed after church for choir practice, (since I’m the choir director), and when I came home I didn’t feel so well. I finished making the guacamole, I changed clothes, and I curled up on the couch. I loved the National Anthem, sung by Renee Fleming! I saw the first few plays of the game, and then I got sick. I spent the rest of the evening in my bed or in the bathroom. Yuck! Consequently, I have no pictures of the Super Bowl party. But I hear that the people who were here enjoyed it!

And Sunday morning Claire and Belton had fun playing together. :-)

Dayton’s Blessing

Dayton was blessed on February 2, 2014. We had a brunch for our family that morning. I’m so glad so many people were able to come! That was so wonderful!

Dayton - 3 Months

Dayton is 3 months old today! He has been very, very smiley lately. That is so fun!

He still sleeps like a champ. Hooray!!!! One night he slept for 10 hours, but he usually sleeps around 8 or 9 hours. (Sometimes it’s still 7 hours). On those mornings when he wakes up "early," (after having slept only 7 hours), I have to remind myself that he’s still a super sleeper!

Dayton’s a good little boy. We love him so much and are so thankful he’s in our family! We love watching him grow!

Sleeping in the Swing

Dayton takes most of his naps in the swing, and sometimes he amuses me by what he does while he’s asleep.

Looking up

Smiling while almost hiding

Just plain hiding! (It reminds me of Claire!)

Smiles & Playing

I love these kids!

Just look at that sweet little boy!

Claire typically has a quiet time every day. I love that she plays (for two hours, usually!) with her toys. When I get her from her quiet time, she frequently tells me what she was doing. Maybe she and her babies went to church or made some cake, or maybe she built The Med and St. Joe’s with legos, or maybe she dressed up like a princess and did who-knows-what! It’s great! She can make quite a mess, but that’s all part of the fun!

Snow!

Mark it down! On January 24, 2014, it snowed in College Station! (And it’s actually snowed a few times since then, too!) Claire had fun playing in the little bit of snow that we got.

I played outside with Claire, but I went inside periodically to check on Dayton. When he was awake, I told Claire that I was going to stay inside with him, but she could stay outside and play. She looked at me and said, “I’m freezing!” And she came inside. We warmed up with the fire and had a cozy day inside after that!

Sleepy Boy

You know those moments when a baby effortlessly falls asleep in your arms? They’re great, aren’t they?

I cherish them. I love them. And I love him.
