Alone Together

Jordan and I were able to spend a weekend alone together. (I love the sound of that!) Mel watched the kids for us. We were thinking of staying in Dallas. I could have met Mel halfway during the day, and then when Jordan got off work, we could have just gone downtown. But the Dallas police shootings had just happened the week before, so we decided to avoid that area for a while. Instead, we took the kids to Mel when Jordan was finished with work, and then we headed to Houston. We planned our meals and were pretty flexible about everything else.

Friday dinner - Pappa’s Burgers. Have you ever been there? I LOVE their burgers! So good! And, since we were first time customers, we got free milkshakes. YUM!

Friday dessert - a Lebanese chocolate place. Jordan knew about this place, and it was right across the street from dinner. We shared a strawberry-filled crepe with three kinds of chocolate on top. Triple YUM! We spent some time at the counter asking about different kinds of candy they sell, and a couple of times Jordan asked the girl who was helping us if she knew who was singing the songs that were playing. One time it was Taylor Swift, and I don’t remember the others. Then, the last time we were at the counter, some Lebanese music was playing, and she asked Jordan if he knew who sang that song. It was awesome!

Saturday breakfast - at the hotel

Saturday lunch - Jasper’s Gourmet Backyard Cuisine - our flex meal. We found a good place while we were walking around The Woodlands mall area.

Saturday dinner - The Reef. Wow. Seafood is not my first choice (ever), but this food was wonderful. Incredible. Lovely. And every other positive adjective you can think of. I recommend it if you want great seafood in Houston. Awesome. - And we saw a guy propose to his love. It was very sweet. At first, I didn’t realize what had happened; I just saw two people standing up and kissing. I thought it was a little strange to do that in the restaurant, but then I saw him put a ring on her finger. - And this was our dinner to celebrate our anniversary, since we were in Arkansas (and Jordan was sick) on our anniversary. So it was one of those sweet aaaaaaahhhhh moments that took me back to when Jordan proposed to me. And the lady selling flowers wouldn’t leave us alone. :-)

Saturday dessert - The Cheesecake Factory. We just got some cheesecake to go and enjoyed it later in the hotel.

Sunday breakfast - Leftovers from The Cheesecake Factory. Again, we ate it in our room. What fun to eat cheesecake for breakfast!

Sunday lunch - Brasil Cafe. I love getting the feijoada there. They had a buffet, so we enjoyed a few more things, too.

Besides eating, we watched a movie, we tried to shop a little bit, (but the store I wanted to go to was under construction or moving or something), we relaxed, we slept in, we got pedicures. It was fabulous to be alone together!

Then it was back to College Station to get the kids. Since Kyle’s birthday was the next day, we enjoyed a family dinner to celebrate. Thanks, Mel and Stephen, for watching the kids!
