Grandmom and Granddad Griffin lived in Boston for a few years once Granddad finished medical school. We took a drive out to visit a house where they lived. Aunt Debbie was born in Boston and lived in this house, too. It was great to see some family history with this house!
We all went to dinner one night at Durgin Park. Here we have Angie and Crystal.
And here are Laura and Matt.
Here's the whole gang at our table. It was awesome to be with so many extended family members!
The next day, we all headed over the river to Cambridge. We walked around Harvard for a little bit to see the beautiful campus.
We went to the Harvard Museum of Natural History to see some glass flowers. Grandmom Griffin remembers seeing --and being amazed by-- this exhibit 50 or 60 years ago. (Wow!) Every single flower/stamen/stem/fruit/cross section/and more under the glass is made of glass. I can't imagine how meticulous the people who made these had to be!
We looked around the rest of the museum, too.

Some of us went over to Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage for lunch.
It was excellent!!!
Laura and I posed with this macaroni noodle, (because we DO love it),
and then Grandmom, Mom, and Aunt Debbie did, too! I love it!
Taylor in the Boston Garden
Andrew, Taylor, Crystal, Brock, Peter, and Matt on our way to dinner one night.
Andrew knew about this little Italian place called Figs. It was awesome, and it was tiny! But we managed to fit four pizzas and two pasta dishes on this table so we could share them. That was fun!
Julia, Taylor, Brock, Crystal, Matt
Make Way for Taylor!
Some of the group went to a Red Sox game at Fenway during our trip. Since Matt couldn't make it to a game because he had to get back home and go to work, we dropped him and Laura off for a few pictures. (And then we got way lost, and they had plenty of time to sit and wait for us as we made our way back to them!)
Our trip so far was great! And the next day it was even better. But we did learn a few lessons along the way:
- Boston is hard to navigate if you're driving and you're not familiar with the area. Let's just say that a number of drivers had a difficult time navigating Boston, and I'm VERY glad I didn't have to drive us anywhere.
- I trust the maps on my phone more than I trust a GPS navigation system.
- Occasionally, I'm actually the one who knows where we're going! I know, I know. Some of you out there are laughing because you know how bad I can be with directions. But I'll just give you one example: At one time, when someone asked if a group of us could find our way, Uncle Glenn said, "Oh yes, Julia's with them!" {Now THAT'S fun!!!}
