Laura's Baby Shower

Back in September, my mom, Susan Garrison, and I gave Laura a baby shower. (Susan is a long-time family friend. When looking through Laura's baby book, we saw that Susan, Vicky, and Julie were the ones who gave my mom a shower when Laura was born!)

Here's the dessert table. We had cheesecake dip with assorted dippers and petit fours.

Here is the mom-to-be! Don't you just love that orange giraffe? He's super cute!

I love the flowers!

You can see the shower invitation in the frame.

Some of the favors for the guests

We tried to make the food very Laura-esque. So we had two make your own panini stations! Here's the one for turkey, Swiss, and bacon.

And here's with one with chicken, tomato, mozzarella, and basil. YUM!!!!! (And thank you to all my friends  who let me borrow your panini press/George Foreman grills! It all worked out great!)

Chrystal and Laura with the other food table. We had sausage freezies, spinach dip with veggies and bread, chips & queso, watermelon & cantaloupe, and punch.

We started into the food when the guests arrived. Chrystal, Caren, and Kelly

Stephanie, Heather, Cheryl, Debbi, Patti, and Chris

Lauren, Pam, and Judy

Vicky, (who helped give that shower for my mom when Laura was born years ago), Jennifer, Cheryl, Candy

After eating, we played a little game. I had asked Laura and Matt some parenting questions - what will they do when he gets a bad grade, who will get up with him in the night, how will you discipline, etc. I read one of their answers, and everyone had to guess whose response it was. They held up little sticks with paper hearts - the blue side if they thought Matt said it, and the pink side if they thought Laura said it. Everyone got to hear a little insight into the soon-to-be parents' minds, and there was no pressure. Not surprisingly, Mom and Kelly did very well in that game, but Chrystal and Judy Hoyt tied for first place!

Then it was present time!

During present opening, the guests wrote some silly thoughts or encouraging words on diapers for Laura and Matt to find when they change the baby's diapers in the near future.

A mummy onesie that I made (-with a lot of help from my friend)

Sweet blankets that will be personalized with the baby's name and stats once he's born

The shower was a fun success!

We're so glad Lauren was able to come! (Her mother is another of those family friends who's been around for quite a while!)

They're so excited!

During the shower, Matt was kind enough to watch Marcus and Claire. - Thank you!

I cannot BELIEVE our sisters have kids. How did they get that old? That must mean we're old! Looks like a fun shower and your new nephew is a cutie!
