Murano Island

After our cruise of the Grand Canal, we took another boat out to Murano Island, which is well-known for its glass factories. Here are some views we saw on our way there. (The boat ride took about 40 minutes to get there, I think).

Our boat driver - working really hard as he reads the paper!

A look back at Venice

A fancy boat!

Laura! (Oh, and I forgot to mention on the Grand Canal post - Laura really, really loved Venice. She loved it so much that she decided to leave part of her belongings in the Grand Canal! Well, she didn't decide to, but she did accidentally drop her lens cover into the Canal! We just laughed and laughed, since there was nothing else we could do!)

A random elephant

Speed limit signs

Lighthouse!

Here, we're pulling up to our stop at Murano Island. The canals are lined with glass factories and glass shops. The glass shops had beautiful vases and other items on display. There were also many jewelry shops - selling jewelry made out of Murano glass, as well.

We went in one of the glass factories and watched a glassblowing presentation. It was pretty cool! - What do you think this blob of glass will become?

It's a horse! (Or maybe it's a unicorn, huh?)

This blue glass sculpture reminded me of Las Vegas!

Another pretty building!

We ate lunch outside along the sidewalk. I ordered ham and melon, (because I was trying to get the same kind of amazing ham I had in Florence), but it was a little different here! The cantelope was superb!!!
At lunch, we were serenaded by these two guys and their accordians! It was awesome!!!! (It makes me think of the Disney movie, Lady and the Tramp!)

We had a fun time in Murano!!
