Thanks to Laura's navigation Monday night, we made our way to the train stop in Windecken and got on the train to Frankfurt. We had some time in Frankfurt before our train arrived, so we got some food. Laura ordered a crepe from this very nice and helpful guy.
She was so excited! (And yes, she got Nutella! YUM!)
Then we got on our train to Florence. The ride from Frankfurt to Florence, (via Milan), was 11 or 12 hours. We slept in a couchette car. Our compartment had 6 beds, but there were only 3 of us in that compartment. The other person was a guy from Greece who lives in Milan. He had been in Frankfurt to deliver a car to his brother, (or something along those lines). He didn't really speak English, and we don't speak Italian, so we used our Italian phrase book and my limited- and Laura's better-understanding of Spanish, (since Spanish and Italian are so similar), to communicate. It was fun! Laura really had a blast!
After about an hour of talking, I was ready to go to sleep.
After 2 hours of trying to sleep, I got sick. Thankfully, I made it to the bathroom first. After that, though, I felt MUCH better, and I was able to sleep. Laura said she did not sleep very well the whole night. But that didn't stop us from having fun that day!
Here I am on the train from Milan to Florence. This train filled up with lots of business men. The employee who verified people's tickets messed up on Laura's and my ticket. Our night train was only supposed to take up one travel day, but she marked two travel days. The man sitting next to us spoke English, and he asked us if there was a problem. We were able to explain to him what had happened, and then he explained to the employee what we said, and everything ended up working out. It was very nice of that man to offer to help us!
And our next stop was finally Florence!
