After Florence, Laura and I went to Venice, the city on water! Venice was definitely our favorite place we visited on this trip. For me, I've heard of the city on water, but I hadn't been able to comprehend it completely. But then we arrived! - And it's just spectacular!!!!
This is a view of the Rialto Bridge. In the foreground you can see Rialto on a yellow band across a building. That's the "bus stop" - so to speak! (The boat that is the "bus" is actually called the vaporetto).
Here you can see people actually getting on and off the vaporetto.
Here's a different view of the Rialto Bridge! We were on the vaporetto when we took this picture.
Here's a view down the bridge. Many of the shops were closed at this point,
but Laura and I found a great jewelry shop on the bridge that was open. This lady, (who has a daughter named Julia - or the Italian equivalent of it), was very funny and friendly. She was making jewelry right before our eyes! (See all the drawers of beads in the background?) And all the beads are made of Murano glass, but we'll get to that later.
The post office - right next to the Rialto Bridge
And now here are some pictures from the Rialto Bridge. They are similar, but I think they are so beautiful, so you get to see them all! :-)
